The sculpture "Head" by Markus Raetz is part of the Norwegian sculpture landscape Nordland and is located in... nowhere. At least you get the impression when you set off from Eggum in the Lofoten Islands, walk along the coast and suddenly a slender column with a head looms in front of you. This is so connected to the landscape that one or two people are sure to walk past it.
But it demands attention, because the artist Raetz's intention is not just the representation, but the manner of reception. Many of his works can only be understood through the viewer's movement in front of the work of art.
This is also the case with the "head" in Eggum, which sits immobile on the pillar. From one perspective he looks at the sea, from another the "head" stands upside down. The transition from one extreme to the other is imperceptible when you walk around the work of art, as Karin's film shows.
